V1 Light Weight Lithium Batteries

What are everyone’s thoughts on lithium batteries for our cars? Worth the extra $$$? Also thought maybe because our weight distribution is already biased towards the rear, it may make sense to have a little extra weight up front. Thoughts?

Going with the added weight up front really isn't a bad thing. Now it's location may not be the most ideal, but I'd still say it's better than nothing. Would love to test one vs another, but batteries are quite expensive

But if the unit loses some weight in the front then you can justify the Space X spec
titanium exhaust set up you've been eyeing! o_O Or maybe just remember to leave your pocket change behind? I've read a lot of Goblin posts and it is my impression that adding a front wing adds the downforce needed VS adding weight, and heavier socks.

Oh you're completely right - the force at speed is a night and day difference with front aero as folks have seen. But for cost benefit of the battery... guess it depends on budget and where you add/test lightness. Now... Auto-X with and without passenger is a wild difference in these cars, I can attest to that. Wonder if there's space in the rules for running with a crash test dummy as my passenger...

A JAFO! Look it up. Tell them he's your GIB, Your WO, or claim he's your Navigator?

For 1/4 the price of a standard battery, you could try a lawn and garden battery. Back in the day, that was a tried and true way to shave off a few pounds in a sport compact like a Neon or Civic.

And for what it's worth, passenger or no passenger didn't make a difference for my autocross times. I'd always get my fastest run of the day during fun runs after the event with my wife in the passenger seat. Time on track matters more than weight.

Chassis weight balance is sensitive for the Goblin. I know that parking my squatch butt into the left seat will definitely make a driver's side weight bias - it makes a difference in my 3500lb Jeep. Having another person in the passenger's seat will help correct that balance and 'even out' the suspension action/reaction. It's all about the physics.
