V1 Michael’s - Extended Track Frame - Build 247 - 08 SS Donor

[2.0 Turbo]

I’m just returning from Red Oak with my Track Frame an want to get my Build Log started. I’ve purchased an 08 SS as my Donor with 80K miles. I’d been reading Post on/off for the past year before I finally pulled the trigger an purchased one. After visiting Lonnie an Adam an taking a little putt, how could I resist! Now the fun begins. I’m planning to start the tear down this weekend an working through the process. I’m still undecided on my color schemes. Too many choices
As to upgrades, I’m only planning to replace the common wear items. Not building a Race Car here. The car is being used for weekend putts with the wife. An hopefully some meetups with other Goblin owners. I’m located in Indiana, just outside of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Last weekend I spent time preparing an organizing for the build. Unfortunately was too busy through the week to really do much.
Friday 01/08/21 pushing the Frame into my paint booth. I consider Powder Coating however with having a Paint Booth an Painter on Staff. Well, it’s hard to justify the additional expense. With that being said, it’s getting Primer today!! Paint is ordered an is expected for Monday morning.
I’m attaching a few pictures an you’ll see the Special frame upgrades Lonnie an Adam did. I believe it’s called Modified Easy Entry/ Modified Full Roll Cage. Currently it’s the first car with the two upgrades. I’m loving it. More to come...

The modified easy entry has been delivered on a street frame previously (Askiles). Gives an interesting look to the track frame, not sure about the look. I spy the double monkey bars in the upper halo. Any other notable frame mods? F40?

Correct, the modified versions have been done a couple of times. However, this was the first that incorporated the two options on one car. I realized I wasn’t very clear after I had Posted that.
I’m using the 5 Speed from the car.
I did end up purchasing a New LDK with Turbo attached. Literally was delivered yesterday. So now I have a extra Turbo engine I need to sell.. I’ve yet to remove it from the car an planning to Post this weekend.. Possibly someone would want to test drive before pulling. I believe you’ve also purchased the new LDK?

Thanks. It came with the Stock version. I’m sure the cars going to be a handful even in Stock form.

ATK crate LNF (European LDK) and MU3 Regal F40 with a Quaife LSD (still have to install into transmission). Had DF add the F40 frame mod and I have been modifying my frame a little bit.

Test fitting an drilling holes for attaching side panels. These clamps worked well for getting everything lined up. Once I was happy with alignment I center punched the holes.

Clamps would have been smart. I used masking tape and got frustrated with it sagging because I have the smooth brain .

I’m still moving forward as time allows. My first thought was replace only parts as needed an go from there. We’ll, that plan changed quickly! In the end I didn’t use too much from the Donor Car. Definitely looking forward to meeting others in the near future. At this point my goal is to attend the Tail of the Dagon this October. Sharing a few pictures…
