Family is the priority right now for sure.
Just wanted to post an update and forgot this

In the meantime I will continue to lurk here and read, maybe comment on everyone else’s post while I dream of the day I can work on/drive my goblin.

Awe.

My only words of advise is to at least primer any bare metal, so it doesn’t rust. Label everything amd take good notes, then neatly put everything in one spot.

That day will come sooner than you expect.

Primer is done.
Just need to scotchbrite a couple runs and spray color. It’s currently in my hillbilly paint booth of a garage. I picked up a furnace blower for a 3500 sq ft house to use as an exhaust system for $65 so that should work as soon as I have a free day to finish painting.

First coat of color is on
Next time I shoot the chassis I’m doing a sort of make shift rotisserie with 1/4” aircraft cable.
the exhaust fan worked beautiful.

wow 18 months without an update... Life happened, a new house happened, a million other things happened
now getting settled into our new home and mostly recovered from heart surgery last dec. I hope to get back to work on the car
I might need to buy a 4 post lift to make room in the garage for a 4th car

Hopefully you have fully recovered from surgery - life altering events take precedence. But glad to here you are ready to start wrenching again. Shoot us any questions you have as the Goblin family is here to support your 're'start. :D

Ok after a long hiatus and almost selling my kit I got back to work on the goblin project.
almost done with stage one I’m wondering if this sensor on the brake vacuum line is necessary?? I eliminated the wiring when building the harness

Tc first start
Does everyone wait for stage 2 to fire?
I’m tempted to try to rig up a temp intake to make sure it runs ok before ordering more parts

Ive read many times of someone just starting and shutting off just to see if it would, didnt/doesnt have to run long, but Im sure the excitement and anticipation is murder.

I suppose it's time for an update

I paid off medical debts, cleaned the garage and bought parts!
The little "extras" are getting annoying.. snowball effect for sure! Before completing everything and having more to disassemble why not build the motor the way I want it? I pulled it out and threw it back on the stand, gave ZZP more money than I wanted to and got to it. Aluminum flywheel, clutchmasters stage 4, Oapel injector rail, stage 2 cams, 82# valve springs & titanium retainers, Valve stem seals, Timing chain and guide set, Gaskets for intake - valve cover - timing cover, spark plugs, from Innovative an ethanol concentration / fuel temp gauge, Konig Heliogram wheels (because of offset available) and Toyo Proxes r888r's
Picked up a cheap blaster from the Harbor Freight and a box of walnut media
Does anyone have an stl for 3d printed adapter to shopvac?
I am considering making a spring compressor tool similar to what ZZP uses in their shop (custom made), what has everyone else used?
The rest of the kit is ordered from DF and freight should be on the way soon.
My goal is to have it on the road before the kids are out of school for summer (May 23) so I can drive them (one at a time) to and from the last couple days.
Am I missing anything in the motor before it gets put back together?
I didn't plan on going this far but keep doing the "well since I'm in here and it's already taken apart.." thing.
I broke 2 torque wrenches, I don't know how torquing to <40 ft lbs - one just stopped clicking and the other broke part of the ratchet mechanism.

I still need to get a sway bar and bushings, 5 point harnesses, a booster seat for the kids ( https://50caliberracing.com/en/utv-performance-parts/1153-off-road-booster-seat.html ) looks promising, lug nuts, centering rings? (I've gotten mixed info on this, are they necessary on lug centric wheels using conical lug nuts?), Wrap for hood engine cover and side panels, and need to dig through forums more to see what all you guys have done for front & side splitters and diffuser for rear

I considered making that ZZP custom tool too. But then I realized that I am installing new valves and guides, so I have to take the head off anyways, so I plan on using a standard reach around spring compressor.

Weisco forged slugs and rods? The LNF may or may not have forged rods - depends upon the year - and has hyperuetectic pistons. Spinning over 7000 RPM for any extended period is recommended to have these installed for bottom end integrity insurance...and peace of mind. :D

Oof I don't know if I can justify all that with a foam cast block, If I feel the need for more power or higher rpm it will be a gen3 block and after I blow this one up
Had a convo with Ryan D and Al at zzp and they agreed with my pov that this is a toy being pushed farther than it was engineered for, It will have the crap beat out of it and it will eventually fail, at that time I will strengthen the remaining failure points but for now a max stock turbo e85 tune it is

For on car changing of valve springs I use my cylinder leakage tester which always seems to work well and I have a universal valve springs tool
