I agree that it fine to bring this to our attention because it can potentially effect all of us as builders. I also agree that, we on the forum need to keep this place one of the very few places in our lives where we can escape much of the shoving of opinion and beliefs down someone throats. If it needs to be debated, there are many other social media and internet outlets where that could be done.
A good example of this and how it should play out is the Texas revoking titles of kit cars. That topic was handled well by all.

The EPA nazis will have it both ways - no mods to your engine and it must have a VIN. I agree. We are here to help each other. Not talk about political views. I ask AGAIN please let them live in other places. No matter who is in office things change. Let us focus on how we can stop this.

Now back to the EPA topic
First off I do believe folks trying to reverse climate change need to win.
But, I don't believe that eliminating the small number of car enthusiasts is going to make a difference.
EPA claims transportation only accounts for 14% of all greenhouse gasses.
There are approximately 1.42 billion vehicles on the road today.
What percentage of these vehicles have had their emission system disabled and how often are they driven?
I doubt that non-emission compliant cars account for even a mile for every ten thousand miles traveled by compliant cars.
That would put car hobbyists at .0014%.
Let's create a list of major greenhouse contributors at the top, such as coal (Also agriculture accounts for a shocking 13-18% of the world’s total greenhouse gas emissions. Most (65%) of the agricultural emissions are methane and nitrous oxide, which mostly come from cows) and put the lower contributors at the bottom.
So where do car hobbyists settle in on this list?
The EPA estimates that hour-for-hour, gasoline-powered lawn mowers produce 11 times as much pollution as a new car. According to the EPA, each gas-powered lawnmower produces as much air pollution as 43 new automobiles driven 12,000 per year – lawn care produces 13 billion pounds of toxic pollutants per year.
It needs to be shown that the EPAs car hobbyists' emissions policing efforts are insignificant in helping climate change. That their efforts would be better spent elsewhere. Maybe creating a law that requires catalytic convertors to be installed on cows.
So, we are going to give money and support where we can and hope this does not get out of control. The best thing most of us can do is support the folks who are already pushing back.
