Track Day - tech inspection

I’ve been autocrossing my goblin for 2yrs now and I’d like to try a Track Day. I contacted two event coordinators this year. One said I would need 5-pt harness, maybe window nets, maybe arm restraints. The other said they do not allow open wheel cars. I’m installing 5-pt harnesses this winter. I’m a bit concerned that my seats aren’t fixed and that might be a problem. What event coordinators allow goblins? Do I need to look at installing fenders, buying a race suit, window nets, arm restraints, etc..?

Definitely arm restraints. If **** goes sideways, you’ll be glad you have them.

as for all the other, it’ll be a case by case basis. I have been on the track a few times here. Both times I had to reach out to see if they would allow the goblin. A more “relaxed” organization will allow it, most won’t, mostly due to being open wheel.

Where are you located? All of the coordinators in CA have let us run open wheel cars.. we run arm restraints, a 5 point harness, HNR, and lower level fire protection (but typically we only run our full suit when required for races) but they've never checked, verified, and showed it as a requirements in any HPDE/track day/test day. Admittedly, we've never asked ahead of time; we always bring them, so perhaps we have been accidentally asking for forgiveness rather than permission, but I've seen other open wheel and kit cars at track days too. They run self-tech forms here, and I thought that was the norm throughout all HPDE days. I've only ever had tech inspection at races, enduros, and time attack events... but time attack is primary for classing qualifications.

So I contacted about BMWCCA at NCM Motorsports. Which is in Bowling Green. I also contacted MVP Track Time Road Atlanta.
I am located in WV. Looking for something with in 5 or 6 hours of me.

I have been tagging along with a friend that is a member at VIR. Mostly to help him pit and get in on the free 20 minute guest lap sessions each day. He runs in the open wheel class in a formula style Argo from the 80's. He can't just get in and go without at least one person for support. The track is awesome! Membership is like 4k per year for maybe 12 or 14 track days. As a guest of someone who is a member there is also the option to pay like 300 bucks per day and get the same 4, 25 minute sessions that he does but I just haven't dialed up the courage yet lol. I might be able to extend that option to you next season if he renews again. He's always open to meeting new people. You would need some kind of fire suit, helmet and arm restraints but I think that's it. The guest laps don't require any safety gear which I think is insane, there is no passing and a pace car but the guy driving the pace car will just go faster if someone is behind him.
