V1 Iwanttogofast's #336 City Goblin - 07 SS/SC Donor

Zoom Zoom
Hmmmm... I have had other Goblin builders tell me that they didn't bother with any of the rear teardown (fuel pump, hubs, etc.) and just replaced with new. I'll definitely be dropping the tank tomorrow and salvaging the parking brake tubes and cables. I literally just found today that there is a donor parts list in the forum. I don't know how I never saw that before, or why none of the videos that I've watched so far mentions anything about that list. That is a pretty important thing to have from day one with the donor teardown. Up to today, I've only been keeping what they say to keep in the videos...
Don’t do like I did and pay 40 dollars to get a spare key made , I didn’t even think about sense we do away with the anti- theft system that you want need to use a chipped key just a regular 3 dollar plan key will work :(

Update: I've been sidelined recently with a health issue with my wife. She was in the hospital and I've been taking care of her at home for the past week, and probably will for another week yet. Thank God, it turned out not to be something too serious. But, once she's feeling better I look forward to starting my harness and getting all of the small parts to powder coat.

Sending prayers.

I had probably my most frustrating day to-date on my build. My wife is back to about 90%, so I thought that I'd get back to the project today. Things have been tough at work lately, and my wife's health issue - so I thought that it would do me good to get back to the build. Wrong.

Everything that I've done so far has taken me 2-3 times as long as it should. Rusty Ohio car. But, today was dash teardown. So, I thought that since it's interior, it should go smoothly. Wrong again. I spent more time than I care to admit tearing that dash apart. I got probably 95% of it done, and I'm stuck on the clutch pedal. I cannot get it out. And of course the video is a low mileage Texas automatic, so it shows nothing about the clutch pedal. They make everything look so easy in the videos and blow right through it. I have a NE Ohio car with rust, I live in a rural area with very limited internet access (have to keep going outside my outbuilding to watch 20 seconds of video at a time), and this is a PITA (Pain In The Ass)!! Nothing is nearly as easy as it seems in the videos. Nothing!!

I used swear words today that don't even go together. My neighbors probably think that I'm nuts because I was going OFF!! Nothing came apart as planned, and when I got to the clutch pedal - I had to walk away. Or, I was going to break something.

I don't even know what this is. It says Pioneer on it, so it's probably something to do with the stupid subwoofer. IDK. But, it's definitely not in any of the videos...

That's the amplifier and I had the same thoughts as you tearing my dash apart last week.

I found the Clutch Pedal thread and it took 5 minutes after reading the tips in there. I wish I had that info the first time I tried removing it.

I rotated the clutch MC counter-clockwise as stated in the thread and pulled it back as far as the pedal would allow. I then used 2 screwdrivers to squeeze the white tabs (I could get one side or the other using my hands but not both) while pushing the clutch pedal away. I did this all while balancing the dash chassis with my knee since laying it on its back would smash the MC and tilting it forward put the clutch pedal on the ground.

The clutch came right out after the white tabs were disengaged and the fasteners removed.

Thanks, man.

DF's info is all over the place IF they even address what you're trying to figure out. I'm so tired of having to search all over the place for each task that I'm trying to complete. THANK GOD for the forum because their info is not very organized. I didn't even know that there is a parts list of what needs to be kept from the donor hidden on the forum. This absolutely should be provided to every customer up front ASAP. There are other examples, as well. Very good product with "meh" instructions and info...

To be fair, DF provides wonderful basic info for the build. Unfortunately, not every possible issue on every model can be addressed by them. DF does a great job organizing their info. It is the builders who sometimes are all over the place with posts and solutions not always placed in an organized way. I am guilty of that as well. There is a learning curve on how to search the website to find what you are looking for.

The forum is indeed a wealth of information from others who have built before us. Finding a few builds with the same donor year as yours and reading through them completely is helpful. Bookmarks are available to save certain posts for later reference.

The new video series which expands on the donor models will help immensely as well.

And as you said, this forum community is amazing with time, patience, and knowledge to help another builder. For any who do not agree, just ask Jeremy @Ark :D. He has 30 pages of build log where others helped with his electrical issues. :)

I have property in the middle of no where Missouri. I stream 4k video from youtube and netflix while I'm out there using my phone as a hotspot for my Roku TV using one of these. The booster and inside antenna should give you service inside your building.

Expensive but worth it, and if it doesn't work it's amazon, send it back. I bought an open box version from amazon for a decent discount.

It’s just an option in the videos.

I do not have the "DOWNLOAD" option in my YouTube account where yours is shown. ??? Is this something that I have to turn on somewhere?

Also, I've tried several times to download the Build Guides from the Goblin Forum, but it takes me to a site where I need to request "Google Drive access". What the hell is that all about?

I have a lot of different skills and abilities, but IT / technical skills is not included in that list. Can someone help? It gets really, really old walking outside of my outbuilding into the cold in order to get 4GLTE signal to watch 20 seconds of video at a time...

That is the correct location. Request access and once access is granted you will be able to download the videos.
