V1 Clutch and brake bleed question

Here's what I found. There's clutch fluid draining out of this gaping hole. I also noticed a ton of sealer in there as well... so I think the engine and trans are coming out. Any ideas of why there's a hole. Why wouldn't the engine and transmission mate up? Is there a leak inside the transmission that would cause the clutch fluid to leak out here or is it supposed to be filled with fluid?

Drivetrain out isn't that bad of a process so far, its what Im hoing through right this minute. From what I've you can take an F35 out without removing the drivetrain entirely from its home by just lowering it enough to pull the trans.

The fact that there are visible flywheel teeth doesn't mean much, and I think I remember an inspection cover that you are missing.

And if by "clutch" fluid, you mean the brake fluid that operates the throwout bearing, I'm not sure that the orange sealer makes a difference. I can't imagine anywhere that is on the pressurized hydraulic clutch system that anyone could have tried using rtv.

I guess my question is.. if it's supposed to be a sealed system should fluid be coming out even without the cover?

Yes, brake fluid leaking there is a leak on the throwout bearing or piping to it. If you are sure it's brake fluid.
I mean, it tasted like brake fluid.. hah, yeah I'm positive on that one, def brake fluid

I'm gonna take a video if it when I get off work and maybe that'll help with diagnosis

On top of the trans bellhousing there is a big black plastic inspection cover(or just an open window?) into the bellhousing space. Use a remote camera/borescope if you must, but peek in the window! If the pipe is leaking at the T/O bearing you should be able to see it spray when clutch pedal is being depressed. If the bearing is blown out it should be apparent as well. But actually, IF there is that much fluid leaking out of the bellhousing and that aluminum elbow connector is sealed upon the external nipple(lets not go into that d&#^ seal on the pipe that seals the pipe to the alu elbow being missing, torn, improperly installed), then it is probably a foregone conclusion you are R&R-ing the trans and replacing the T/O bearing and pipe.(add big frowny face here) I wish I had a better Garage-side manner, but there it is. ...........................Consider buying another T/O bearing pipe and swapping out that seal, just to be sure! That is the cheapest and least time consuming fix. And if you were pulling the old T/O bearing out you would be buying that pipe(always sold separately) anyhow! This is only a useless tactic IF you know for a fact that connection is NOT leaking!

Thanks, this info is awesome! I was sulking around the house last night thinking i would need to buy another trans... which could still be the case...You wouldn't happen to have that cover plate laying around you're willing to let go of for a finders fee lol? I'll update when I mess with it and get more pics/info

And here I thought I was o_O"rambling"! Pleased to be of help!

I'll look for them both. I know I had collected a little steel cover somewhere?? The window plug, I doubt I collected one, but I'll be on the lookout.

Haha your rambing spoke to me. Thank you sir, much appreciated. I have the little plastic window cover already just looking for the metal flywheel cover for now. And if anyone has a link to the TOB pipe I'd be grateful...just in case...
