I'm finally back

Well I've been given the go ahead on a 10lb maximum lift by my doctor. Had both shoulders rebuilt. My right one exploded had a complete rupture of the longhead tendon, 2 holes in my rotator cuff, completely detached tendon where it connects to to back of the shoulder blade and had some bone spurs at the joint. The left shoulder was a partially torn longhead tendon, the bicep muscle that was still attached tore completely in half between the shoulder an elbow. It tore going front to back right in the middle, had a huge hole in the rotator cuff, some bone spurs at the joint and only had 1% of the natural movement of my collarbone due to arthritis. The arthritis must be due to carrying that 150- 200lbs on my back for those 13 years in the Army... But I'm soon to get back to work on my Goblin. I don't know how me and this 10 lb lifting limit are going to get along

I think mine was my body trying to tell me that I wasn't 20 years old anymore. It's been a long road back so far but I can honestly say that my shoulders haven't felt this good since I was a kid. It's just getting the strength back that is taking so long

Getting strength back always takes a long time. I don't know your back story, but I have experienced a long recovery period myself. I was in a coma for a month and hospitalized for another 3 months. It took me almost two full years to get "back to normal activity". Be patient and listen to your body!!

Thanks for your service.

Right after I got my Goblin kit my right shoulder exploded. It was really torn up completely ruptured tendons that they had to replace with cadaver tendons treated with stem cells. That was an 18 month recovery on it and in month 19 the left shoulder went out. They did the surgery a month later in November 2020. I'm not doing much work done on it but have done some little things. Still don't have everything stripped from my donor car, well the only thing left on it is to pull the dash which I can't do yet so I can't do the wiring harness. I think I'm going the stand alone ECU Route for engine management and I have been reading up on that. I have also been building up a good sized stack of foam 12" thick x 24" wide x 80" long to make the plug for the body so I can make a set of molds to make the composite body out of. That way if something gets crunched I can pull out the mold and make a new panel. Just have to match the paint on whatever got damaged. When I start making the plug I will post some pictures to get some feed back on the body design, but should end up fully enclosed but only adding around 200lbs. So add weight yet gain more aerodynamics, more down force and take weather out of the Goblin goodtime.

Shoulders were messed up from spending 13 year with the U.S. Army infantry with a secondary MOS as an EOD Technician. We were always humping a 150lb-200lb load in our Alice packs. Wasn't really good on my back or my knees either. I have two disks in my back that are bulging pretty good and I've had several knee surgeries so far. Just part of the reason I'm at 100% disabled permanently and total though the VA now. I was at 30% when they did my med board and told me they didn't need my broken self to stay in the Army any longer. That's a young mans game and I was getting older.

Chris, barichuk (Chuck in Chattanooga) here. Got a message from you in email that wouldn't let me respond. You asked about the powder coater I used. It's D&B Coating in Trenton, Ga., about 15 miles from my house in Lookout Valley. The phone there is (706)657-3410. He has done many pieces for me. The frame is maroon and other pieces are a satin or semi-gloss black. Everything he has done for me is quality work and I would highly recommend him.

Ugh. The wifey has had shoulder surgery on both of hers too. It’s no fun when it’s a “normal” surgery, I can’t imagine total reconstruction.
