Make sure you are filling the reservoir up high enough. The reservoir section that supplies fluid for the clutch only gets filled when the fluid level is really high.
Illuminate the backside of the reservoir and see if the back section has any fluid in it.
Also, make sure your clutch pedal can completely release the clutch master cylinder. It has to be fully out to open a fluid passage into the clutch master cylinder. If the clutch is even slightly depressed, it will block the flow and keep you from bleeding the system.
This is more common in early models with pushbutton switches. The top switch can interfere with the clutch pedal returning.
Also, if the return spring is broken on your clutch pedal, you may have to physically pull the pedal up and hold it until you get it bled.
Ok, had my son hold the pedal up and bleed again. Didn’t change. Clutch only grabs about 1/2 from the bottom. At this point I am going to just proceed with the tear down. I plan to replace the clutch once it’s apart anyways, I guess I will just also replace the master cylinder.

Tear down day -3
Have given up on getting a a good clutch pedal. Will deal with it later with parts.
Seats out, all rear wiring disconnected and labeled. BCM, ECM removed. Got the donor on jack stands and wheels off. Debating if I want to drop the tank, kinda want to make sure I have all the parts from it in case the new fuel pump doesn’t have something needed. Got the engine bay fuse box out, the video was helpful. Did not see any leaks after running up to temp, but after pulling the passenger side wheel and wheel cover found that there is an oil leak. I am assuming timing cover/front main seal. Hopefully nothing more than that.
Taking the family to Hawaii tomorrow for vacation/belated honeymoon. Pick back up in a week.

Front suspension, brakes and subframe removed. Engine hoist is set up, planning to drop the engine tomorrow. Positive, I have made back $330 selling parts on Facebook.

Engine is out, engine harness removed, did my best labeling everything. Note to self, should have printed out the layout of sensors, I knew what most items were, but a couple of sensors I wasn’t sure. CV shafts looks good, some surface rust but I think they will clean up. There was some metal shavings on the trans drain plug, hopefully not a big concern. Looks like I have the LSD transmission, I think that is a good thing. Won’t be able to work on donor tomorrow, but that will give me a chance to make sure I am ready to remove the dash and the harness. Hoping to get rid of the donor early next week and see what I can get for scrap.

Shifter was really hard to get out. The back left didn’t corner did not want to come up off one of the bolts. Had to cut the bolt off. Then it pulled out no problem. Dash removed, that took some work. The dash was a little heavier than I was thinking. Wiring harness removed. Time to watch the dash disassembly video. See how that goes tomorrow.

Tore the dash apart. Lonnys video was spot on, made the process very straight forward. Cutting a slot for a flat head in the tamper bolt with die grinder worked like butter and made the removal a breeze.
Fuel tank is out, note to self, should have paid attention to the amount of fuel and drained the tank. At least I didn’t spill too much on the floor. I was thinking about just ordering a new fuel pump because I was worried that the bolts were going to be rusted in, air ratchet worked great.
Going to build a larger furniture dolly to put the donor on and get it out of the garage. I feel that I have removed all of the required parts.

I have removed about everything that is called for. I even removed the VIN after taking plenty of pics,
that show it. Is there any reason to keep the donor?

Ark :D
The rear axle beam occasionally holds some value with people. The guy who bought mine was doing a LS->SS conversion on his girlfriend's Cobalt. Worth trying to sell maybe if your budget is tight or you have the patience for it.

I’m not patient enough to hold on to it, nor do I have the room. Lol

Dash wiring harness day -1
Got almost the entire harness thinned out. Have two connectors left that I am not sure about. The first is image 4 black multi plug That a lot of radio wires went too. It has a a teal and burgundy colored wire that I am not sure where they go. And the other image 6 is a two wire plug, thick black and brown wire. The black I know is a ground and the brown is going to the large BCM plug. Trying to look in ALLDATA, hopefully I get it figured out. Donor had heated seats, I plan on keeping that feature.

Figured out the connector in image 6, it’s the blower motor. Should be good to remove that brown wire going to the BCM plug. The black multi plug had the foil wrapped wires going to it. But haven’t been able to figure it out yet.

Wires figured out. Harness is finished for now. Looks like your suppose to wait to tape it all back up until you test fit it. On to the next harness.

Engine harness day -1
Got all the tape and cable wrap removed from the engine harness. I think the a/c wires are the only thing that need to come out. Then I will be ready to re-wrap it.
