V1 Joe's 2009 F40 SS/TC #470

1. 2. 3.
Front transmission mount installed. Kind of a shame that it will be hidden, but Im happy with how it turned out. Upside-down left-handed drilling to get the job done.

Drivers wheel is back on. With rain the next 4-5 days on the menu I kinda hustled to get things done the last two days. Pushing to get it mobile so I can trailer it to the local PD so they can do the VIN verification so I can get my paperwork in.

Beep boop. Still here doin' things. Getting tired of trying to find a local LEO to sign off paperwork, so I guess Im going to bum a trailer and head to the state police next weekend. Yippy yay me

So I wired up these sick Rigid lights, but I keep getting an issue where they blink once and then stay lit solid like my brakes are on. It comes and goes, mostly gone but happens. But my brakes lights seem to stay on, even with the switch unplugged. Again, its not constant and comes and goes. I cans hear relays clicking when turn signals and brakes are applied. Is something wrong with the BCM? Oor...What gives?
I'm 99.9% sure they're wired correctly.
Ive got Reverse, I've got a low powered red running light, turn signals work with the switch (tried two different stalks), brakes work if I press and release the brake pedal. I tried easing up pressure on that foam pad nut on the brake lever/arm, but I don't think that helped.

Also. I bought these awesome headlights with DRL halos like Ive seen many do before, but when I hook up the turn signal wire and switch the stalk, nothing happens, but the parking light just stays illuminated. I've got my buddy Scott helping me, so Im sure we'll figure something out. I just thought maybe someone's run into this issue before.

Could my parking light Halo staying on be because the turn signals have been run to the mirrors? Would I have to tap into a wire and run that back up to the headlight to make yellow blinker halo work?

I believe there is a daytime running light wire that goes up to the headlights, this could be keeping the halo on and is probably not a terrible thing. As far as the turn signal goes, yes, you’ll need to pull that from your mirror since there was nothing wired to the headlights while doing the harness. That is the easiest as the turn signals are pulled from the fuse box.

Keep in mind, off the top of my head, '07 and newer donors run the high beams at half voltage (PWM 50%) for DRLs, while the '05-06 Cobalts run the parking lights as DRLs. If you don't have the ambient light sensor hooked up and the headlight switch is in Auto, I'm pretty sure it defaults to the headlights on, which includes the parking lights on. Not sure if that's helpful or not.

So what's remaining while I wait for the mail to do it's thing?

Wiring up lighting
-headlights
-license plate light and location. Who made that sweet locator bracket off of the lower left frame rear rail? I liked that.
Install DF exhaust for the time being
Mount the footwell cover
Mount the hood
Nut/Bolt check
Button panel
Seatbelt Harness uppers

Side quest
-low coolant light, its not low on coolant
-hub swap for the new wheels/tires
-figure out why the turn brake lights work, turn off, then stay on full bright

*rear trans mount is somewhere on these lists

Brake lights are wired in.

When head lights are turned on, the tails come on soft like they're supposed to. Then they Brake lights come on and stay on until I hit the pedal. The brake lights turn off for a couple seconds and then they come back on and stay on until I repeat the process.

Anyone have any actual experience? Not just a guess? This is something the BCM is controlling and its not a pedal hanging up.
Is it because I don't have my headlights hooked up?

*I dont have have brake lights when the car is off.
*The brake lights will stay on as a last act of defiance when I turn the key off. Seemingly indefinitely. Surely to drain the battery if I dont tap the pedal one last time before I exit the car.
--- lies, they come back on no matter what. Key in, on, or off and out of the car

---- maybe it is a pedal, after they came on the last time, I ripped up on the pedal hard and they havent come back on with the key off.

Try loosening the little screw that holds the brake light sensor to the brake pedal. Add a little bit of play to relieve the stress should allow the brake light to turn off.
