V1 Josh's City Goblin - 10 XFE Donor

I cannot fathom how the plumbing of air lines could cause that. In my minimal experience and from my remote perspective, I don't see how the problem is anything other than:
1. Inadequate turbo oil drain,
2. Too much supply oil pressure, or
3. Shot compressor shaft seal
and I think you've covered 1 and 2 in your diag...

I'm with ya. I'm awaiting hearing from ZZP at this point. I think I've done just about everything I can do short of trying a much more restrictive oil restrictor (0.035" vs 0.0625"). I ordered some things to help test this and Amazon literally lost half of them or else I would have more info yet (oil pressure at turbo, what the 0.035" restrictor does, etc). I tend to think the turbo is bad too though, even though it has a new center section as they said.

Well I decided to try to salvage what I have and just send it. Today I got a lot done.
  • Got an adapter setup to make the intake N/A if needed
  • Put push buttons down to affix my hinge hood (finally!)

      1754187028718.png
  • Added an oil pressure sensor to the turbo (will test idling tomorrow)
    • 1754187117654.png
  • Installed peel and stick carpet from Home Depot on the floor, cheap and turned out really nice
    • 1754186970841.png
  • Put in 2027 SFI belts
  • Did some mild waterproofing of the fusebox area
    • 1754187075923.png

Tomorrow I plan on finishing up redoing the e-track in my trailer and packing. I painted the whole interior and added a solar panel earlier this summer, but I haven't shown it here yet. Really happy how it turned out!

70psi at the turbo oil feed on cold start. I'll try with both restrictors after lunch to see if there's a difference

I didn’t check cold idle yesterday, but I was definitely getting 70+ psi at Hwy speed at full temp yesterday. Measured at the factory oil pressure switch location.

60psi at the turbo with 0.035" restrictor (before the gauge). I just think bad turbo at this point
I am far from turbo experience, but can you separate the turbo from the exhaust so that you can idle the engine but not spool up the turbo? Then you can provide oil pressure and look to see where the oil is coming from and if the turbo cartridge seals can hold static pressure. Basically can we separate the functions and see the results with one aspect at a time?

I don't have turbo experience really either. I think the only real concern would be lengthening the feed and drain lines to reach. Plausible thing to test. I'm actually fairly close to ZZP so I have it there right now. I'm still thinking bad turbo at this point, but hopefully they can figure it out.

ZZP said they put a new center section on the turbo and its now working. Its on the dyno as we speak and I should be able to pick it up by 5. Serious props to them for squeezing me in last minute. Not a lot of companies would do that.

Sick week here we come!!!
I think they want you at Sick Week as bad as you want to go! Good Job ZZP! All these tuners benefit from participation. Bon Route, Goblin!!

I need to get some of that stick on carpet. Didn't think of that.
Awesome to see you running. You really fought for it. I need to get mine dyno tuned too!

Continuing the trend of fighting for Sick Week, my trucks AC decided to die on what ended up being one of the hottest days of the year. So we switched to my copilots truck... And the AC didn't work in that either. We're just conditioning ourselves... For no AC in the Goblin... Right?? :p

Day 0. We got teched in by like 9am so we just kinda walked around and checked stuff out for a bit. Got interviewed by Tom Bailey's video guy, so maybe I'll be on YT, who knows. It's hot as hell so we didn't stick around for testing and just went back to the hotel. There will be plenty of opportunities to run and see others run the next few days. Excited for Day 1 tomorrow!

Day 1 Didn't go exactly as planned on the drag strip, but everything else went smoothly. I ran a 7.9@98. I've ran a 7.0 with the TVS and slicks. I think if I can get the dang WOTBox working I'll be able to get this figured out. I did two runs but both just bogged off the line because without boost this thing is gutless. Turbos are weird lol
