V1 Mikes Extended, Full Frame Goblin - 2009 Cobalt LS with 135k donor

@Jr Green That's great! Thanks! Can you also take a picture of the ECU with the Plugs?

Made some headway tonight at the dash harness. Not sure how accurate the length need to be, but some of the length are really really tight! I have a boost gauge wire (but no boost gauge, did not came with the engine), this seems to be installed somewhere near the ignition switch. I guess at the A column?

Could not find the break pedal switch with the same wire colors as in the video and I have plenty more than 1 clutch switch. I guess I just pull them all to the pedal box...

Still have some wires not accounted for. Hope this will all sort itself out over the next 2 videos.

On another topic: I am looking for a new clutch. 2 questions: Which clutch would you go with, when aiming for a bit more tuning later on?
Should I replace the flywheel as well?

Was thinking about this clutch https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinf...OvBK1WDVaiPyKwYHX4i4iI6Qz5Vr6HbTsDycehqb424oE

Every time the video said tie a knot, I labeled that wire after tying the knot and even referenced the video number and timestamp where it was tied. It helped me a ton as there were a few knotted wires.
Do you have the time stamps somewhere digital?

I have a shrink wrap label machine. Stopped the video, looked in the wiring diagramm, added the information from the wiring diagram on the shrink wrap and put that on.

In the pedal box installation video they are talking about an adapter. I am sure my donor did not come with this adapter. Is it just a plug adapter or is there some electronic in it? Thinking about cutting the plug from my current harness, if my LSJ plug does not directly fit the pedal box. The wiring diagram does not say anything about this adapter.

Have you confirmed the part numbers are the same on accelerator pedal/Sensor? If not, the odds of it working are remote, even if you can get it wired in.

It’s a bit tough to see in the first pic with the connectors so close to the intake tube. The second pic only has one connector attached but they all hook up the same with the wiring flowing out in the same direction.

Interesting. I have my ECM mounted with the clips toward the bottom. I hadn't considered it could go in sideways like your photo. That would make things a whole lot easier to attach.

Looking at that throttle pedal pic, I believe the adaptor/ extender is because the wire harness end is female and the pedal is female. Note the gray "lock tabs" are both on the extension. A quick fix for an assembly line error at the wiring harness factory, or from the pedal maker? Or the pedal changed for some reason and instead of making another style dash harness they made an adaptor. I've never compared gas pedals in Base VS SS cars? Though the adaptor MAY reprogram the pin out for the pedal as well? This is going to require a wiring diagram to be sure. Each connector has a pin out description in the wiring diagram for your year and model.

Or these adapter harnesses are another item to target during your boneyard adventures! :D

For what it's worth, both my LSJ donor ('07) and LNF donor ('08) had the throttle pedal adapter. I obviously only used one of them, but the other one is long gone now, as I built my car 3+ years ago now.

You can order one off eBay for like $75. I think it’s called a APP Adapter harness. I cut the end of mine off to make the wiring harness plug right into the APP (accelerator pedal). Just one less connection to mess up at some point.

I'm not finding many SS's in yards lately. From looking at that ADPTY pic it appears the wire positions are not reprogramed by the adaptor(or maybe they are turned 180*?) Basic wiring harness and pedal are both female and adaptor is male on both ends, curious that! I am betting a running production change on gas pedal and electrical harness dept was not informed. Then some smarty built the adaptor and saved waiting 3 months for new gas pedals. You'd think those pedals would be the same across all of the Delta platform. I found the HHR pedal is attached differently to the firewall and can't be used in a Goblin. I haven't looked at the Saturns or the Saabs.

I will take the hood of my Goblin and see what's going on with the ACC pedal and the adapter. I think this is just the connector https://amzn.to/3tQRVW5 (affiliate link). Most likely will get one of those.

I hope I can finish my harness tonight! Being 1/4 in at the last video!!!

@Gtstorey I have not confirmed that the part numbers are identical. But it seems like, the ACC pedal are just 2 parallel potentiometer.

Does anyone know what threat in the ignition key is to screw them to the Goblin?

Harness done! I wonder what the odds are that there is no mistake in the harness and it will work right away…. Feeling fairly confident, since almost all cables found a place to be. Pulled in a few spare wires.

Still have a few questions, but hope that all works out as the rest did.

So, I solved some mysteries regarding the accelerator adapter. Indeed the 2009 LAP engine has a female plug on the wiring harness. The 2007 LSI is a male. Wiring I will just get a new plug and that should solve the issue.

Next I looked at the Clutch and Break connectors. While there is no difference between the 2007 SC and NA version, there is a difference between the 2007 and 2009 cars. The NA from 2009 car has a single 3 way potentiometer connector. The SC car from 2007 has multiple 2 wire connector with simple open/close switches. Sames goes for the brake lamp.

Question: Does anyone have a picture of the clutch and brake switches from a 2007 car?

I wonder if I simply can get the 2007 switch and put it on my 2009 pedals.

Otherwise, I may build me just a simple control board which uses the current potentiometer switch as an input and gives me a couple of contacts as an output. Now, I am wondering is there besides the press clutch to start the engine any other safety function which comes from the clutch and brake pedals I am not aware of?

No, don't believe so. The 2008-2010 models need a potentiometer switch for the clutch and brake pedal sensors. An open/close switch will not work with the ECM programming and the type of signal it is looking for.
