I love the roof bars you have on your city frame for the windshield. I've seen a few people with those I swear, is it something someone sells or are you guys just super crafty? I wonder how well they pass for a roll cage /safety for racetracks.

No one sells them. Lots of fabrication hours involved in it. I will give the credit with the design to Bar-Air. I pretty much copied his design made some changes along the way. In my opinion the center bars are a must for assistance getting in and out.

As far as roll cage. It will add some support but not much. I doubt that it would be counted as an actual roll cage because of the way it is mounted. I never intended for it to be a roll cage, I had to have a laminated glass windshield for PA inspection. At the time when I started DF did not have a viable option for one.

They'll just look at the main hoop as protection, similar to a convertible car where windshield frame is given 0 credit. The track im trying to get in with just requests arm restraints and that both passenger and driver have equal safety restraints. So no 5 point for you and just a 3 point factory belt for the instructor.

Speaking of the center bars and windshield frame. My brother had some time to get the windshield frame painted for me. He gave me a hand installing it and the windshield glass. I am getting closer to meeting my end of march goal. But there is still a lot of boxes to check off .

How will the front cowl fit against the base of the windshield frame? Do you have enough 'knuckle room' between the windshield and steering wheel?

How will the front cowl fit against the base of the windshield frame? I am working on that this week, as of now the hood will sit right against the lower edge of the glass.

Do you have enough 'knuckle room' between the windshield and steering wheel? As it sits now I would guess about 4 to5" of clearance. plenty comfortable right now. I am planning on a removable wheel so I may shorten the column or lower it some time will tell.

I am sure photos are forthcoming so we can all see your progress. This set up will definitely be an option some owners with the city frame may be considering if a DOT windshield is needed/wanted and a place to grab onto when entering/egressing the car. Great work.

Here are some pictures of the clearance from the windshield. I have just about 4" of clearance to the glass from the wheel.

Well back when I stripped the donor I kept the cowl to hood gasket in hopes to use it where the hood meets the glass. I have a little trimming to do on the hood but it looks like it will work. A few pockets for the wiper arms and it should be good.

It was in my plan to work on them over the weekend but the mailman had other plans.

I had originally found some small compact wiper s last year while I was fabricating the frame up. https://raingearwipers.com/mighty-wiper/ even after the guy said " I'm not sure my wipers will do what you want them to do. They won't wipe mud off the windshield " Who in the f said anything about mud? ( that whole dunebuggy thing again) . I was still really thinking about these wipers up until last Sunday. I just couldn't justify $ 375 for something that may get turned on once a year.

I ended up going with two Seachoice self parking kits for about $120. https://www.amazon.com/SEACHOICE-Self-Parking-Windshield-Wiper/dp/B002IZFROO They are a bit bigger housings. But I have enough room for them. They are stainless housings that will get painted or wrapped.

I also set myself a budget when I started this to stay close to. All while building a clean and good looking car. That also weighed in on my decision on what wipers to buy

I think those are the ones i may have warned you about. If they have a switch on the bottom side, not seen in photos, then they only self park when using the switch to control them. I thought i may have read something once that you can get a special remote swithc for them that may also let them park.

EDIT: I read through some of the reviews, it looks liek it you wire it 12v from battery - fuse - wiper, and put the relay on the ground then it may self park.

They are not! I have one of these on a boat. They self park. There are about 30 different versions of these motors out there different manufacturers or so they say. It is a very simple wire up 3 wires no relay required.
