V1 CodyP's Extended Track Goblin - 06' SS/SC #296

Joebob
Need more weight on the rear?? Relocate the radiator there, like on the Goblin A/T. Problem solved.
Plus, the loooong hoses thru the frame are eliminated.
I tried that with talking to Lonny directly. The issue he states is that moving the radiator to the rear moved 40 lbs from the front to the rear making the front even lighter. The pulling the radiator hoses is currently a necessary evil.

Pulling the hoses isn’t that bad. You can use a come-a-long to make it much easier.

And yes, you definitely need the weight on the front. It’s alreafy light enough.

I thought I had a boat wench, but couldn’t find it, so I used the come-a-long. It worked, just a bit slower.

We will have to work on the bike situation for you. :D

I had roommates a long tie ago go the bike route while I went the Lincoln route.

OK. Then put the wing on the FRONT. And a heavier battery. Cables are FAR easier to route than hoses.

I know it's been mentioned, but I can't find it at the moment, so I'm just going to ask. Everything from the cv's out looks a little rough. Sorry I didn't get a great picture. I may have to replace the cv's but I will wait to determine that until I pull them. I plan on buying a blast cabinet to clean up some parts. I got the SS/SC kit that comes with the parking brake kit. I also picked the option for the 5x114.3 hubs AND the rear coil over kit. So my question is, will I be reusing any of the parts past the cv's(such as brake parts, fasteners, etc.)? If so I will probably have to be replacing them.

You'll be re-using the knuckles, and I believe a few bolts will need to come from the donor as well. You can re-use your sway bar too if you want, but I don't think most Goblin owners did that.

You will need the aluminum spindles and all the bolts,,, Spindle to hub and spindle to caliper.

CodyP
So the knuckles/hubs are the aluminum parts correct? All of the aluminum seems to be in decent shape aside from a little surface corrosion.

These are all of the photos I took from under the car the other day when changing oil. Some may be a little disoriented because I was laying on my back just trying to take some quick shots. Let me know if anything JUMPS out at you. I know it's going to need a new steering u joint. Part 1

Woof. I would start hunting down a steering intermediate shaft (that one is probably locked up).

The long tube header can be sold and buy a short header.

Check the cradle (or called subframe) for more than just surface rust. That’s a main part of the structure.

CodyP
The car runs and drives. Albeit not very safely with the subframe practically not being attached. Ha. Steering feels fine, nothing seems locked up. It definitely doesn't look good though. I mentioned it in my intro but the header is an aftermarket "Pacesetter shorty header" according to previous owner. The tubes do look a little long in the picture though so I'm not sure. I was under the impression that I would be needing a new subframe when I purchased the car. But looking at it from underneath it doesn't look terrible. I'll have to further inspect upon demo.
