V1 Captain Dave's City Goblin #336 - 07 SS/SC Donor

Ok next question about the rear suspension installation, anyone know what bolts are used? I don’t think I have enough donor hardware to mount everything so I need to go to the hardware store. Also what thread are these holes? I need to clean them but I’m unsure of which tap to use.

I'll send you a pic by text. If you don't find them I can mail you 4.

Installing the front hubs today. Looks like I need to trim the back side of the hub so that it will seat like it should. Is this correct and if so what should I use to trim with? It looks like the mounting studs will come out but I am not sure about that yet.

I used a 1/4 grinding wheel on end to take the female connector down until it just cleared. If you're watching the videos, Lonnie shows you how he does it.

I know I have seen it trimmed somewhere but I can't find it in the videos. Do you happen to know which video Lonnie show that in? Mine is going to need to be trimmed down more than just to the connector. I think at least 1/2" below the connector will have to be removed.

What’s going here? The front suspension is installed as instructed on the new videos and it seems like I am WAY off. This is the side that I used the recommended adjustments on. The camera is level in the picture.

On this side I adjusted the upper control arm out 10 additional turns on all three locations. Still looks like I have a ways to go. Not sure how much additional adjustment I have left.

Does my suspension look like it is installed correctly? Seems like I am also not going to be able to get the tires straight with the steering rods. The new ends were shorter than the stock ones.

Looks like both of your rod end mounts (black bracket at top and bottom) are backwards. Easy fix and once flipped will move the top out and bottom in and straighten it out.

I see what you are saying now. The top rod and mount should be on the inside of the upright and the bottom should be on the outside.
Correct, this is a photo from the “Helpful Photo Album” on the forum, not my car. That photo album is super helpful to see some stuff up close that’s not covered in detail during the build videos.

If you don’t know where it is;

Thanks man. That was the problem. I swear I followed that video to the T but if something can be done backwards I guarantee you that I will find a way. Lol

I am working on the rear brakes and trying to figure out how to shorten the stock parking brake cables. Is there a shorter option that I can just buy or a way to cut the stock cables? If I cut them I am not sure how to reattach the end piece that connects to the parking brake handle. Any suggestions?

I took the extra length, and made big swoopy circles, as tight corners make the cable harder to pull, and wear the cable more.
Instead of running the cables along the rear subframe, I ran them thru the middle of the LSJ oil pan, then a big 180 turn to the left and right wheel, staying low to avoid the muffler.

I straightened my parking brake tubes at the last bend to allow them to fit along the subframe better, I then ran the cables a long the side of the subframe and looped them behind the car before attaching to the parking brake.

This is all Drivers side;
Tube attached to radiator mounts on subframe. (Straightened the tube a bit at the bend on the right side of this picture)

where the cable leaves the tube.

Along side of subframe.

Looped around, attached to coil over using factory brackets, and attached to parking brake.

Sounds like the way to do it if using the stock cables. I think I am going to try and shorten the cables. They seem way too long as they are.
