V1 How long runs your cooling fan after the engine is off?

Joebob
Have you tried a different relay in that spot? Maybe the relay keeps tripping. It would be very odd to have a 2.2 LS tuned and change the fan but weird things are out there.

Those temps are what I see as well.

Ark :D
HP Tuner still not here. Drove yesterday when it was 94F outside around and had the relays pulled. Temperature never got above 192F even in stop and go traffic.

This is essentially how my car behaved with the stock tune. Stayed at around 192F, occasionally spiked higher while sitting still. Radiator fan never cut on even one time, not even with the highest temp I ever saw on the cluster of 208F.

With the custom tune I installed, the fan cuts on much earlier, including for a while at startup.

My Fans panel in HP Tuners is much more sparse than what Joebob posted for his 2.4l ... not sure what's up with that. I don't seem to have any settings at all for desired fan cut-on temp, nor anything else really. Not concerned.

Just catching up on this since being out of town for a week. It reminds me of how the intercooler fan works with the LSJ (and probably turbo) models. Does it turn on after a few seconds w/o starting, only key to run?

Got the HP Tuner today, this is what my setting looks like. It says 2 fans connected. Tuning file attached as well.

Ah yes, if you have a wideband connected to the A/C compressor pressure sensor wiring, it will trigger the fans to come on thinking that the A/C is on. Should still turn off after you switch the car off, but it will make it turn on right after starting and run the whole time.

I Zero'ed everything out to not let the A/C pressure drive any engine management

Still does not explain the run on after key off.

Took the car for a quick spin and had the VCM scanner running. Monitored all Fan signals. Around 8 seconds after the engine. You can see it in the logs, I just don't know what triggers it. I downloaded from the HP Tuner repository the standard file, and could not find any change the former owner did. So it seems like I have a stock tune on my ECU.

@Joebob I have 2 O2 sensors installed. Both have 4 wires and seems to be similar. One is directly after the engine, one is behind the catalytic converter. Is that standard for this 2.2L ?

Yes I do know. The 0->1 transition will occur at 36. So 0->1 is from fan off to fan on transistion. The 36 is in the "Fan Desired % vs ECT" table. In my link in post #52 above, you can look up 36 in my picture, and it would be about 212F of Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT).

Your 1->0 transition is at 28, which is about 208F. (Follow the purple lines in my picture)

Ahh, now I understand. The other table, which is not on my picture above matches the number from fan desired to temperature. I have to check what 36 might be in my tune.

After reading tons of posts in several forums, I believe fan is triggered by not having an A/C pressure sensor.

My first question: Who is everyone else dealing with that? I believe it should happen to everyone removing the A/C.

Is it possible to disable the complete A/C in the ECU?

Next question: Since I have never build my car, I am lacking of all the information which control modules were removed and where the remaining modules where placed. In this post I found some information about the wiring of the A/C pressure sensor and was wondering where this module sits and if simply a few resistors would do the trick wo get a signal in the ECU. http://dfkitcar.com/forum/index.php?threads/ready-for-electric-water-pump-now.4276/post-85398

Mike,
The Cobalt had 2 fans at the front radiator. The Goblin uses the one that is controlled by ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature).
I wonder if your car has the fan wired to the the AC fan 2, rather than engine fan 1.
My post #52 has blue lines for the ECT fan 1 settings in HP Tuners. The purple lines are for the AC fan.

Rather than tricking the AC pressure setting, I would wire your fan to fan 1, so it uses the ECT rather than the AC pressure sensor.

Here is the AC magnetic clutch and the AC pressure sensor.

The 2 radiator fans have the same plug. The big fan is fan 1, the little fan is fan 2.
