Do I even need the purple and tan wires? I’m sorry, electrical is new to me and I’m trying to understand these diagrams. I’ll try to find the others you mentioned and figure out where I cut them off of.

The pink/black wire switches to a grey wire when it gets to the C2 connector on the Fuse Block. It is in D4 on the C2 connector.

I found C2, D4 here. This should be a grey wire.

10 seconds in

the wires that are removed from the fuel pump junction. I cut it out while stripping the donor and had the wires tapped up. I kept the 3 wires mentioned in the video.

@Ross, working through the videos I got to the section where I prep the fuel pump harness and tape it with the coolant and ambient temp plug. The fuel pump wires are grey, tan and purple like the wires in question. I feel more confident in the wires I have saved from the fuel junction that I questioned.

I'm not sure what donor car Lonny is working on, but it doesn't have the same wire colors on the fuel pump as my car.
The connector plug doesn't even look the same as my fuel pump.
Does it match your donor?
Maybe Chevy changed some wire colors, or the fuel pump supplier changed the colors. It makes me wonder why my fuel pump wire changes from pink/black to grey. Lonny cut out a grey wire. Maybe my car use to be grey all the way to the fuel pump. I do know the 2005 donors had different fuel pumps, as did the LNF cars.

I had grey w/black stripe, purple, orange (faded to almost pink) and a black wire for my pump. Can you snap a photo of your FP plug? Mine was a 4-plug connector.

Have you setup the fuse box and BCM locations on the wiring table? I can’t remember at what step that happens in the videos. Shortly after you do that, you drape the purple, grey and orange wire by the fuse box.

I did my wiring harness 4 years ago... yes I mounted the fuse box on the wiring table. Can't remember if the BCM got mounted.
So your wires match Lonny's wires. Good.
I do have an unmolested Cobalt harness on a shelf in my shop, that I can reference. Also have my modified harness in my goblin.
I don't remember draping those wires, and the video you referenced didn't exist 4 years ago. I used the early videos.
Mostly I followed what Lonny did, but sometimes his donor was different than mine, and I had to dig into my wiring diagrams.

I finished video 5 part 2 this evening. I have the BCM at the harness split point and getting the fuse box put together step by step. Right now the fuel pump wires are just coiled up.

Yeah, keep going. You mate all those back up later on. To be clear, you have a tan, purple and grey wire all coiled together? Or labelled that they go to the pump? The ground gets dealt with when you start making grounding lugs.

They’re labeled for the fuel pump, it’s the ones pictured. I have them pulled to the fuse box just didn’t drape them like the video. Trying to keep my bearings so I don’t get lost or confused haha

Finished part 8 of the wire harness videos. Dash harness is thinned and ready to incorporate into the main harness. I see the light!! Speaking of light, I noticed my light sensor is MIA, wires are pulled out plug is missing….must be in the trash somewhere. I’m assuming this will not allow my auto lights to function but I’m not terribly concerned. I will have to source a sensor and connector somewhere to get it reattached. Other than that I think it’s going pretty smooth minus the hiccup with the fuel pump wires last weekend. Thank you @Ross & @Robinjo for the info and patience.

I never would have thought I’d be ahead of the game but it feels good to be prepared. Now to patiently wait to get started on the assembly of the car!

I would highly recommend the adjustable struts and springs from Df than replacing stock struts. Spring preload and dampening adjustments are very nice vs stock struts and springs you have to cut to adjust. Spend the money and cry only once.

You think the light sensor will automatically turn your headlights on and off? I'm not sure that is what the light sensor does. Maybe someone here knows if there is an auto setting for the headlights. I haven't used it.

They do work. Dims and brightens all by itself.

Small update;

Slowly working my way through the harness. I’m now near the end of video 10. I just need to get the accelerator pedal wires extended and tidy some things up. Hopefully can be finished Thursday or Friday since I have time off work for the holidays. Part prep will be next on the list.

While everything is unwrapped, has anyone had any issues with harnesses being too short? I added a few inches to all measurements given in the videos but if there are some tight areas I’d rather extend it now and not while it’s in the car.

I extended a couple of the wires in the gauge cluster connector. I don't remember off the top of my head which colors they were, but 2 or 3 of them needed a little extra length.

My gauge cluster is an inch or 2 shorter than what they mentioned in the videos. I’ll make sure to add a few extensions before wrapping it up.

I recommend getting through the first start before fully wrapping the harness. That way you don't have to unwrap everything to troubleshoot electrical issues if you have any.
